New AED Purchased

Wigan Scuba Divers receive grant for AED

We’re incredibly proud to share that Wigan Scuba Divers have received a grant to purchase a brand‑new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) — a huge step forward in strengthening the safety and wellbeing of every diver who trains with us.

This funding allows us to add a Zoll AED to our growing first‑aid capability, ensuring we are fully prepared for emergencies during pool sessions, open‑water training, club trips, and community events. While scuba diving is an extremely safe sport when taught correctly, having fast‑access lifesaving equipment is a responsibility we take seriously.

This grant means:

  • ⚡ Faster response in the unlikely event of a cardiac emergency
  • 🏊 Greater safety for students, new divers, and returning members
  • 🌊 Improved readiness during open‑water training and club expeditions
  • 💙 Continued commitment to providing a safe, inclusive environment for all

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the funding provider for supporting our volunteer‑run club and helping us keep our divers safe. This investment directly benefits our members, our community, and the future of scuba training in Wigan.

Safety has always been at the heart of what we do — and this new AED ensures we’re even better equipped to look after every diver who joins us.
